Eastern-Tailed Blue

This little treasure is actually from a few weeks ago, when I was at the butterfly garden of a local park. Towards late afternoon, the lighting in the grass near the parking lot was bad and the temperature was cooling, which is probably why I didn’t get a decent shot of the butterfly’s open wings as it flitted from clover blossom to grass blade. Barely the size of my thumbnail, the blue set a surprisingly fast and typically erratic path across the lawn, rarely troubled by the photographer belly-crawling through the damp grass after it.

The photographer’s frantic crawl, encumbered by weighty camera, was much appreciated by passing small children, however. 🙂
