Eastern tailed-blues, that is.
(Although admittedly, I have been trying to work some blues into my listening as well, to prepare for the rapidly approaching school year.)
This one, mostly likely a female Eastern tailed-blue because of the darker, more charcoal-gray color of her dorsal wing, has been through the wars. Those eye patches on her rear wings have really been proving their worth, as one wing is a bit tattered. The other seems to have gotten crumpled a little, and has given her a much darker spot on one wing’s front edge.
It isn’t quite the usual look for the elegant little blues, and I quickly snapped a picture or two of her battle scars. She wore hers with grace, and shortly thereafter sailed off in search of a more full head of clover.
Hail to the brave little blue!
