When I began to shoot more pictures in college, I needed to find subjects. I’d recently moved from the small village to the very big city. The people were off-limits, the buildings a bit intimidating at first … but The Big City had fountains. I loved fountains! And the endless play of light on water was so much fun to photograph.
Not coincidentally, water was also how I ruined my first camera.
I still love the glorious sparkling abandon of a water being flung in glittering arcs into the air.
I was there a little late for the butterflies, but the flowers were still gorgeous. Evening proved to be the perfect time to catch our resident urban cottontail, who warily consented to have his picture taken while he checked out the local salad bar.
